Amelia Gray Takes a Field Trip
Tarrah Bouts, Owner & Licensed Esthetician
A Message from Katelin Maynard, Salon Department Manager
It turns out you are never too old for a field trip. The Amelia Gray leadership team, Tarrah, Grace, and Katelin, took a road trip to Easley, SC to visit with some amazing mentors at the Silver Salon. We had a blast and learned a lot!
Road trips are fun, but we promise, we also worked hard. Our goal in taking time away from Amelia Gray Salon and Spa was to take part in a wonderful program that Erin and Evan at Silver Salon designed to share best practices in the industry and to create a strong network of like-minded salon owners and leaders to help everyone continue to provide five-star service to their clients.
Some of the things we talked about were:
New Stylist Training Program
Effective Coaching/Leadership Styles
Front Desk Service Training
Team Communication/Leadership Development
Why Did We Take Part in The Inside Look Initiative?
Our leadership team at Amelia Gray is working diligently to develop a "learning salon" for our community because we feel there is a real need for post-graduate career guidance and continued education. We are working to bridge that gap and offer alternative options for up-and-coming stylists in our area. I have been working on developing a training program to ensure every stylist feels prepared, confident, and supported working in the hair department. We want to ensure that every stylist that works here is delivering the same high-quality service and has had extensive training before ever working with a client.
As a working stylist for nine years, I have worked in multiple facets of the industry. I am very open and honest with my experiences and believe there is room for us all to build our careers in a way that best suits our personal career goals while offering excellent service. My biggest take-away from the visit was learning how to coach team members based on how they learn and best receive constructive criticism. I plan on using this new skill to improve our recruiting and retention as we work to grow the hair department. Making sure we have a strong team of happy, thriving stylists is a win/win for Amelia Gray and our clients.
It is my hope that our style of doing things is welcomed and supported by the community that we love so much!
See you in the chair!
~Katelin~
