What to Expect at Your First Facial

You’ve just booked your first facial… now what? 

You probably have lots of questions, like, “Do I wear makeup”? “How early do I need to be?”  “Do I need to bring anything?” 

There are a lot of unknowns. It’s hard to know what to expect! You can Google and do your research, but the truth is, every salon is different and has their own way of doing things. 

Depending on which facial you’re receiving, the point is to relax, and that’s what we want you to do before coming in. Today we’ll cover exactly what you can expect when you get a facial at Amelia Gray, starting before you ever enter the salon. Let’s get started! 

BEFORE

Before you come in, there are a few things you need to know. 

1. Feel free to come in your makeup! Guests are often coming from work or another commitment beforehand, so we never expect a bare face. Your esthetician will double-cleanse the skin, so no need to remove beforehand. 

   2. When you arrive as a first time guest, you’ll need to fill out a New Client Form upon arrival. This will cover any skin concerns you have, your skin history, any products you’re using at home, your skincare goals, and more. 

   *While you don’t need to arrive early, we do ask that you arrive promptly, as we have time built into each appointment for your consultation, and we want to make the most out of our time together. 

   3. Be ready for a thorough consultation with your esthetician. The more information you have to give, the better your esthetician can make customizations specifically for you! . 

DURING

1. Once you arrive, your esthetician will meet you up front and you’ll head back to your room together. In the meantime, feel free to browse our retail section! 

2. You’ll discuss your New Client Form with your esthetician, who will be crafting their plan for your skin throughout. 

3. After your consultation, your esthetician will leave the room so you can change into your spa wrap. We recommend removing everything but your underwear for the ultimate comfort experience.

4. Your esthetician will return and begin your full relaxation experience! 

One thing we want to note here is that if at any point you are feeling discomfort, your skin is uncomfortable, or you have any concerns, please voice this! Your esthetician welcomes any feedback and is happy to both explain what she is doing, as well as make any adjustments to relieve your discomfort, should there be any.

AFTER

1. At the end of your facial, you will receive post care instructions from your esthetician  depending on the service you received. 

2. Take home products are available in our retail area to extend your results. We live the  80/20 rule - 80% of the work happens at home, 20% in the treatment room, which is why we offer an amazing selection of products that work alongside your facial regimen.

3. Your esthetician may give you their social media handle to stay in touch should you have any questions or concerns following your appointment. 

4. You’ll then have the opportunity to book your next appointment. We typically recommend coming back every 4-6 weeks to maintain your results. While pre-booking isn’t mandatory, we do recommend keeping one appointment booked out for 4-6 weeks to ensure you have a reserved time. 

Your Initial visit is for ‘getting your feet wet’ so to speak. We recommend the Uptown Facial or the Downtown Facial to begin, as this gives you the opportunity to establish a relationship with your esthetician, and for her to get to know you and your skin first before recommending a service that is specific for you.
